Tim Kolk, President, TRK Advisors
Timothy Kolk, President of TRK Advisors, brings over two decades of experience in the credit card industry, including previous positions of Managing Partner at Brookwood Capital and head of Finance for M&T Bank’s credit card program. He has analyzed hundreds of credit card programs and is considered a leading expert on credit card program design, portfolio optimization techniques, processing system evaluations, marketing plan development, new program start-ups and program profitability & performance management. In addition, Mr. Kolk has industry leading experience on the pros and cons of selling their credit card portfolios and is acknowledged as a leading figure in the negotiation and transition process related to such sales. He has experience with every type of credit card program (e.g. owned portfolios, agent programs, carve-out, distressed, affinity branded, cobranded), across all size ranges and processing environments, and including a wide variety of special situations (e.g. merging institutions, transitioning endorsement negotiations, terminated partner agreements). Mr. Kolk is frequently sought out by the trade press for his views on the credit card market, hosts the Online Card School to provide ongoing training to the issuer community, co-hosts with Callahan Associates the Card Management Series of webinars, and publishes articles and white papers throughout trade and general press.
Mr. Kolk attended Dartmouth College, graduating with honors. He received his MBA and was selected as the M&T Bank Fellow at SUNY Buffalo where he also graduated with honors. He currently serves Treasurer of The River Center (nonprofit), and has served as a member of GFA Federal Credit Union’s Monadnock Advisory Council, President of Friends of Conval Athletics, Treasurer of Conval Hockey Boosters, Treasurer of Conval Dollars for Scholars, Board Member for Live Free & Ski, applicant interviewer and regional Book Club Chair for Dartmouth College, as well as coach for a variety of youth sports.
