For many cooperatives, it can be challenging to set aside the time and space to innovate – but it’s crucial to do so. That's why Patelco Credit Union began hosting hackathons in 2019 to bring department experts together on an annual basis for 48 hours of innovative brainstorming to find solutions that enrich their members’ experience. During these intense events, employees pitch an idea, form a team, and rapidly pull together proof of concept that their idea works.
These events may be quick but have proven to be a win-win situation with long-lasting impact.
Patelco has seen an influx in creative ways to improve efficiencies, participants get to explore collaborative thinking and put their ideas into action, and ultimately, members have a better experience.
Join Stephanie Shah, director of portfolio planning & execution at Patelco Credit Union as she shares best practices and lessons learned from these highly anticipated events.
Webinar attendees will learn:
- How and why the credit union solicits team member feedback prior to each event
- What solutions Patelco has launched as a direct result of the hackathons
- Why the short window of time works well for the cooperative's tech-savvy membership
- Lessons and best practices other cooperatives can use to create their own hackathon
